Ok back to the record collecting!
Summer is here and school is finally over (for good!); and what better way to celebrate than with a few super-rare Northern Soul smashers?...
First off: The Lad Teens - White Rice
According to youtube comments (which are universally infallible...) this was a mid-sixties pop group comprised of the 6 Perez brothers. Very groovy and still holds up well today. Listen to it a few times to really appreciate it.
Next up: The Invitations - Whats Wrong with Me Baby?
This is such a killer track with the driving beat. Amazing that it remained relatively obscure even within the N Soul scene. You are now in mid-sixties Detroit.
Last: Linda Queen - I Feel the Pain
This sounds like some straight RZA ish. Another killer beat, and with that voice how could she have gone so unnoticed?
