After a short (long) hiatus I'm back on top of the blog. The good news is despite the lull in posting I haven't stopped digging for new records. What I'm saying is my crates are overflowing with amazing new finds that I'm dying to share with my fellow vinyl geeks.
So here we go:
First up are a couple of neat old Patti Labelle records on the early Newtown label. From what I've learned this was the first record company she signed with, and she was still very young. These are some of her earliest recordings.
On the left is "Down the Aisle" b/w C'est La Vi" - 1963
On the right is "I Sold My Heart to the Junkman Itty b/w "Itty Bitty Twist" - 1962
This next record was a pretty awesome find. This is a group from Cleveland, Ohio called The Imperial Wonders, first called The Matadors. Black Prince Records - "Trying to Get to You" b/w "When I Fall in Love" 1969. This is about as cool as a 45 label gets, with the side profile of Satan himself offering darkside approval of the epic awesomeness of this song. Amazing harmony on this one. Check it out.
